After the focused activity last month, it may have seemed a little quieter in the past fortnight but there is still a lot going on. Here is a quick update.
The Council has built a wall between the Archives and lending library and, after a two-week closure, has now re-opened the Archives. They have two full time security guards on site, 24 hours a day. Only the security guards have keys to the building so they have to let everyone in and out, including library staff apparently. It's been estimated that this is costing the Council about £10,000 a week for security at Carnegie and Minet. What a complete and senseless waste of taxpayers' money.
